Liverpool will be considering their situation given contact has come late in the window.

One source told Sky Sports News a potential move for the winger is advancing in Manchester City's direction amid the interest of Tottenham.

Discussions are also under way over personal terms for the Netherlands international.

Liverpool are on the verge of signing Bradley Barcola from PSG for £106m rising to £123m, while Victor Munoz arrived from Osasuna earlier this summer.

Manchester City allowed Savio and Omar Marmoush to join Tottenham earlier month, reducing Enzo Maresca's options on the wing.

City did not name a single winger on their bench in Friday's win over Crystal Palace and started with Phil Foden - who Enzo Maresca admitted is not a winger - out wide at Selhurst Park.

Jack Grealish is of interest to Everton and Sunderland - he is believed to prefer a return to the Toffees - and was absent against Palace, further reducing their options in that area.

Spurs also targeted Gakpo in this window before signing Savio and Marmoush.

Andoni Iraola was non-committal over Gakpo's future on Saturday after Liverpool's home draw against Nottingham Forest .

Gakpo claimed the assist for Alexander Isak's goal at Anfield, after which Iraola told TNT : "Now we have two or three days and we will see what happens with everyone.

"I'm looking forward to arriving at September 2 and knowing what squad we have.

"It's true we created both goals from the right side and they were very good goals."

Bradley Barcola is set to sign a Liverpool contract to 2031 after the Premier League club reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain over the structure of the transfer.

The final discussions had centred over the structure of deal, with Liverpool now set to pay £106m up front and up to £17m in add-ons.

Documents must still be exchanged between the clubs and Barcola must complete a medical.

There had been a gap in valuation between the two clubs earlier in the summer, with PSG previously asking for around £145m for the France international, but the 23-year-old is now set to sign a five-year deal with Andoni Iraola's side.

Barcola would become Liverpool's second most expensive signing of all time, following the club-record deal to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle for £125m last summer.

Liverpool are also trying to sign a second new winger, with their target currently Crystal Palace's Ismaila Sarr following difficult negotiations with Brighton for Yankuba Minteh.
