Josh McDaniels Offers More Details About Drake Maye's Shoulder Injury
The Patriots offensive coordinator shed some light on what Maye is dealing with ahead of Week 4.
The Patriots know they need to bring their best to knock off the undefeated Bills on the road. That's one reason why an injury report appearance this week for Drake Maye raised plenty of concern for fans.
Maye downplayed the issue on Wednesday, telling reporters he "wouldn't say there is a problem," but any sign that the 24-year-old is playing at less than 100 percent is enough to sound the alarm for some.
On Thursday, Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels shed some more light on what Maye is dealing with. Here's what you need to know.
McDaniels downplayed Maye's injury, telling reporters that it's been "business as usual" in practice and claiming the issue hasn't affected the quarterback's confidence.
Maye first appeared on the injury report Wednesday with a shoulder issue, but he was listed as a full participant in practice.
The Patriots offensive coordinator confirmed Maye suffered the injury against the Jaguars, when he was "dinged," so it wasn't an issue in either of the first two weeks of the season.
McDaniels said the injury won't impact his pay-calling against the Bills on Sunday, adding that the ailment is just the result of taking routine hits.
"He's always been a guy that can run and do things with his legs and all that. He's taken a few hits since he's been in the National Football League," McDaniels said. "That's part of the process when you can make things happen with your legs. You're going to incur some hits."
