The former Wildcats point guard is coming off a career-best season with Dallas Mavericks in which he averaged 13 points and 3.9 assists in 22 minutes per game. Williams appeared in 66 games with Dallas after spending the previous two seasons on two-way deals.

The 26-year-old debuted with Portland in 2021 after going undrafted out of college. Williams missed his sophomore season at Arizona due to a knee injury and spent the following year preparing for a professional career.

Williams, a Los Angeles native, is heading back to his home state to play for a Warriors franchise that has fallen on hard times in recent years. Williams will compete with De'Anthony Melton for the backup point guard role behind Stephen Curry .

Williams is the third former Wildcat to play under Kerr in Golden State, joining Andre Iguodala and Nico Mannion .
