Penn State a Large Favorite Over Marshall in Season Opener

It’s game week!

· 166 words

Week 0 is in the books. It was a big day for former Penn State quarterback Beau Pribula, who helped lead Virginia to a 34-8 thumping over conference foe NC State. Charles Huff, part of James Franklin's initial staff as running backs and special teams coach, also had a hot start with a victory over UNLV.

But now, we turn our attention to the Nittany Lions as they prepare to make their season debut on Saturday. Penn State is currently a 24.5-point favorite over their week one opponent, the Marshall Thundering Herd.

Huff led Marshall to a Sun Belt championship in 2024, but the team suffered a decline in 2025 under new head coach Tony Gibson, finishing just 5-7. There is some reason for optimism for a bounce back year, especially as the Herd were able to hold on to the highly-productive Carlos Del Rio-Wilson at quarterback.

Penn State and Marshall will kick off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Beaver Stadium, with coverage provided by FS1.
