Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels dislocated his left elbow against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, his second time suffering the injury in less than a year. And the replay of his injury drew Tom Brady's profane reaction.

When the injury flashed back on screen, the seven-time Super Bowl champion didn't hold back, and his reaction has since gone viral online. By Thursday, he felt the need to address it publicly. Longtime teammate Rob Gronkowski is surprisingly defending Brady's raw reaction.

Daniels originally dislocated his left elbow in Week 9 of the 2025 season against the Seattle Seahawks . The injury sidelined him for four weeks. Though he returned to the field in Week 14, he immediately re-injured the same elbow while trying to make a tackle, forcing the Commanders to shut him down for the remainder of his sophomore season.

Fast forward to Sunday's 37–20 loss against the Cowboys. The recurring injury caught Tom Brady completely off guard, prompting him to exclaim on the live microphone, "Oh sh*t. Excuse me, was not expecting to see that."

After the clip went viral online, Brady apologized on Thursday, saying, "I'm actually kind of embarrassed. There's a lot of grandmas at home that probably aren't very happy with my mouth on Fox. I'm gonna fix that. Sorry. I apologize."

Gronkowski, who played 11 seasons with Brady, told Front Office Sports that he disagreed with his former teammate's apology.

"It's a natural reaction, and that's what fans want," Gronkowski said . "I'd rather have him do that than be fabricated. Fans don't want fabrication. They want real, they want natural, and that was real and natural in the moment."

Gronkowski framed the slip as a sign of Brady's growing comfort in the broadcast booth, adding, "I'd say he holds back a little, because when he was playing, you were allowed to be intense and use those words. In the booth, you've got to be more appropriate, more buttoned up. So it was good to see him let loose, and it shows how comfortable he is now… He's killing it, he really is. I knew he'd start killing it sooner rather than later."

The slip adds to a growing list of raw on-air moments since Brady began his 10-year, $375 million broadcasting deal with Fox Sports. Later in the same game, his excitement got the better of him when he called a deep pass from Dak Prescott to CeeDee Lamb an "absolute piss missile up the sideline."

Earlier in his broadcast tenure, he also drew attention online for a verbal stumble where he nearly blurted out a racial slur before quickly correcting himself to name Eagles lineman Landon Dickerson .

Meanwhile, Commanders coach Dan Quinn confirmed that initial imaging on Daniels' dislocated left elbow showed no fractures, though the signal-caller underwent more tests on Monday.
