Lee Beebe Jr.'s career-best rushing game saves Indiana in close call against Northwestern

Lee Beebe Jr. looked like Indiana 's Heisman contender on Friday night.

The fifth-year back more than supported quarterback Josh Hoover , rushing for a career-high 203 yards and a touchdown as Indiana held off Northwestern 29-23 on Friday night to extend its win streak to 20 games.

Beebe ran for 144 yards in the fourth quarter, including a 70-yard burst and a four-yard touchdown run for the defending national champions. He successfully filled in for starting running back Turbo Richard , who was injured in the first half.

Beebe's previous career rushing high was 161 yards back in 2024, when he played for UAB. He gained nearly 1,500 yards from scrimmage in two-plus seasons with the Blazers, then joined the Hoosiers last season.

He started off hot for Indiana last year before suffering a torn right ACL against Indiana State on Sept. 12 that cost him the rest of the season.

He's back this season and was ready to be the workhorse late against Northwestern. He carried 12 times in the fourth quarter and clinched the game with a tackle-breaking four-yard run on a third-and-1 in the final minute.

Hoover completed 19 of 29 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown. It was the first Big Ten win for the TCU transfer.
