AEW wrestler and band guitarist, 'The Butcher' Andy Williams, recently passed away at the age of 48 . Williams collapsed after his match at the Enjoy Wrestling event near Pittsburgh on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026.
Shortly after, Fightful reported that paramedics used a defibrillator and performed chest compressions before he was eventually taken away in an ambulance. Later, on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026, TMZ reported and confirmed Williams' death.
Now, the Millvale Police Department has shared its official statement with POST Wrestling. "At approximately 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, September 5th, 2026, Millvale Borough Police officers were dispatched to Mr. Smalls Theatre for a report of a male wrestler who had struck his head on a ring post during a wrestling event.

"Upon arrival, officers located Andy Williams unresponsive and being attended to by two physicians who were at the venue with the wrestling organization. Shortly before the arrival of Ross/West View EMS, Williams stopped breathing. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was initiated, and an automated external defibrillator (AED) was applied.
"Upon the arrival of Ross/West View EMS, life-saving measures were continued. Williams was transported by EMS to Allegheny General Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 9:43 p.m.," the statement read.
It further claimed that there were no visible signs of trauma or any indications of foul play. As of now, the official cause and manner of Williams' death remain pending. An autopsy has been performed by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office. The final determination of the cause of Williams' death will be made after the results of the examination are out.
Williams was a professional wrestler and the guitarist for Atomic Rule. While actively wrestling on the independent circuit, "The Butcher" was popularly known for his run with AEW, as well as his tag team with Blade. The duo was part of the AEW roster from 2019 to 2026. Williams also enjoyed a celebrated musical career, where he was part of the band Every Time I Die.
