The Dallas Cowboys suffered another brutal loss on Sunday, blowing a fourth-quarter lead before falling to the Arizona Cardinals in overtime. And one of their former quarterbacks didn't hold back.
Ben DiNucci, who spent two seasons as a backup quarterback with the Cowboys and now works as an analyst for CBS Sports, called the loss "absolutely embarrassing." He also said simply that the Cowboys "stink."
The Cowboys led the Cardinals 14-3 at halftime and 24-10 early in the fourth quarter. But Arizona scored 20 points in the fourth quarter, tying the game on a Gardner Minshew touchdown pass to Michael Wilson with six seconds left.
Minshew came on in relief of starter Jacoby Brissett, and according to Awful Announcing , he hadn't completed more than three passes in a game since 2024. Arizona kicker Chad Ryland missed the extra point that would have won it in regulation, but the Cardinals kicked a field goal in overtime to win 33-30.
The loss dropped Dallas to 3-5. Jerry Jones has said he isn't planning to make a coaching change , but criticism of the team has been piling up. Cowboys legend Michael Irvin even said on First Take that his dead mom could coach them better .
DiNucci, who was drafted by the Cowboys out of college and spent the 2020 and 2021 seasons with the team, didn't sugarcoat things in his reaction on CBS Sports.
"This was absolutely embarrassing today. They stink. I'm lost for words honestly. They have so much talent on both sides of the ball, and year after year, week after week, all we see is just let-downs from them. I'm not sure what needs to change," DiNucci said, in a clip shared by Awful Announcing .
He went on to say that something has to change in Dallas, though he wasn't sure exactly what.
"At some point the same-old, same-old in Dallas for the Cowboys, it's not cutting it. Something needs to change. Somebody needs to look in the mirror. I don't know who it is. But that was an embarrassing loss. They had a 10-point lead with a couple minutes left. They let Arizona drive the length of the field a couple times. Tied that thing up. Should have lost in regulation, ended up losing in overtime. This is embarrassing for the Cowboys. Embarrassing," DiNucci said.
Clearly, Cowboys fans aren't the only ones who are fed up.
