What needs to happen for Jaguars defense to create more sacks?

Through two games, the Jacksonville Jaguars' defense has generated just three sacks . Only six teams have generated fewer.

So what needs to happen to create more sack opportunities?

It starts with what happens on first and second downs.

"Keep them in second and long," Travon Walker said about creating more sacks, via Action Sports Jax. "You wanna get them in those obvious passing situations through where we can just pin our ears back and rush the passer."

Early down success for a defense puts the offense behind the sticks and in predictable passing situations. As Walker describes, it's in those instances that the defensive front can be more aggressive and get after the quarterback.

The good news for the Jaguars is that the run defense appears to be quite stout again, which will help keep opponents in longer down-and-distance situations. The pass defense, however, is surrendering a completion rate of 71.7% -- the fifth-highest mark in football.

That said, it's also on the pass rush to win their matchups as well.

Walker added that the Jaguars' defensive front is focused on the little things, like technique, hand placement, and where their eyes are.
