Sixers' Jaylen Brown responds to former Celtics teammate Jayson Tatum
Philadelphia 76ers star Jaylen Brown responds to former Boston Celtics teammate Jayson Tatum.
PHILADELPHIA -- So, one now has to wonder what qualifies as beef and what falls under the lamb chops category?
The situation surrounding Philadelphia 76ers star Jaylen Brown and Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum took another turn recently as Brown left a blue hat emoji--internet slang "cap", which means somebody's lying--on a video of Tatum recounting his feelings of the trade . That then set off alarms in both Boston and Philadelphia as one wonders what's next for the duo as everybody moves forward.
Tatum then had a lengthy response, which can be seen fully transcribed here , as he claims there is now beef between himself and Brown. Tatum expressed frustration that due to Brown no longer being on the Celtics, they can no longer have conversations and such.
After a win over the Milwaukee Bucks , Brown gave a very interesting response.
"I didn't see the full thing, but I saw that he said there's no beef and I think he's right," Brown said. "There's no beef. Jayson comes from a wonderful family. We've accomplished some great things. He's a hell of a basketball player. He got a great PR team. There's no beef, but it might be a little lamb chops and some gravy. You know what I mean? He should stay ready at all times."
Hmm, a great PR team. Lamb chops. Gravy. What exactly is Brown trying to say?
"Just, that's what it is," Brown said. "No beef. It should never, ever be that. It's just basketball. We're both blessed. It might be a little lamb chop. We'll be all right."
Tatum added he wants to have a conversation with Brown.
"We both got so much stuff in front of us," the 2024 finals MVP said of any convos. "So, at the end of the day, we both … He's got to do what he's got to do for his team. I got to do what I do for my team. Jayson's a great guy. Like I said, great family, hell of a basketball player, hell of a PR team. There's no beef, but it be a little lamb chop."
So, lamb chops. Not fully beef. Brown is a member of the Sixers. Tatum is leading the Celtics. Obviously, there's something going on between the two of them, but it remains to be seen how everybody will handle this as time moves on.
"Look, like I said, there's no beef," Brown finished. "The PR and all that type stuff, it is what it is, but I think we just both focused on what's in front of us."
The Sixers and the Celtics will match up for the first time on Nov. 10 at the Xfinity Mobile Arena.
