DETROIT - The Red Wings may have found a new, explosive scoring line Tuesday, October 13, but it wasn't enough to earn a victory.

Jack Hughes scored at 1 minute 19 seconds of overtime, giving New Jersey a 5-4 victory.

Jesper Bratt found Hughes streaking down the middle of the ice, and Hughes scored on the breakaway on goaltender John GIbson.

Alex DeBrincat scored his second of the game, and fourth on the season, tying the game 4-4 at 5:46 of the third period. DeBrincat one-timed a pass from Moritz Seider, who found open ice in the zone and found DeBrincat alone near the dot.

The line of Emmitt Finnie centering Alex DeBrincat and Michael Brandegg-Nygard had a dominant evening. DeBrincat had two goals and an assist, while Finnie and Brandsegg-Nygard each had a goal and assist.

The Devils (3-3-0) outshot the Wings (1-3-2) 37-26

Jesper Bratt's goal at 16:52 of the second period broke a 3-3 tie during a wild, back and forth period. Bratt lifted a shot from the high slot that got past screened Gibson.

Gibson made a huge save on Arseny Gritsyuk off a 2-on-1 rush that kept the game 4-4 near the midway point of the third period.

Evan Rodrigues, Anthony Mantha, Nico Hischier (power play) and Jesper Bratt had Devils goals.

Trailing 1-0, the Wings tied it on Finnie's second goal at 18:35 of the first period on a blast from the left dot after getting an outlet pass from Brandsegg-Nygard. Finnie returned the favor at 1:43 of the second period, setting up Brandsegg-Nygard on a 2-on-1 rush, Brandsegg-Nygard one-timing pass for his second goal.

But Mantha -the former Wing scored his first in New Jersey - and Hischier scored, putting the Devils ahead 3-2, before DeBrincat tied the game with his third goal, from the high slot at 15:10.
