NHL Teams Tease Hometown Remix Uniforms in Photos Ahead of Official Release

The NHL is teasing new specialty jerseys for the 2026-27 season.

Teams released ciphers Wednesday hinting at Hometown Remix uniforms that will be introduced later this season.

First Star Scouting's Brandon Holmes shared a list of some estimated answers to the ciphers.

The Edmonton Oilers were later decoded as "Oil Country After Midnight." The New York Rangers were the only club that did not join in on the initial drop.

The NHL announced in August teams would be introducing a new Hometown Remix look "that uniquely and authentically celebrates the fans, city, and local culture of each team."

Some teams have seemingly offered hints at what could potentially be parts of their new specialty uniforms with new looks at practice, including black pants for the Edmonton Oilers and navy helmets for the Nashville Predators.

Fanatics took over as the NHL's official supplier ahead of the 2024-25 season on a deal that runs through 2035.

The apparel brand has instituted similar programs in the past with the NBA's City Edition jerseys and MLB's City Connect uniforms.

The NHL most recently ran a specialty jersey promotion under Adidas under the Reverse Retro collection, collections from which dropped in 2020 and 2022.

Los Angeles Kings chief revenue officer Darren Abbott said in August (h/t Icethetics ) he thought each team was mandated to wear the Hometown Remix jerseys at least seven times.

At least some full Hometown Remix jerseys will be revealed within the next two weeks, according to uniform schedules released ahead of the season by clubs.

The Buffalo Sabres have already confirmed the club's sweater will make its first appearance Nov. 4 against the Ottawa Senators, while the New York Islanders will debut their own Hometown Remix look Nov. 5 against the Carolina Hurricanes.

The St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets will each feature their new looks Nov. 17 against the Anaheim Ducks and Ottawa Senators, respectively.

The full release of the Hometown Remix uniforms will eventually be accompanied by the release of replica jerseys and other apparel, according to the NHL.
