The Colorado Buffaloes have struggled over the last three games, with head coach Deion Sanders suggesting that the reason they have struggled was because of their quarterbacks, soon after he benched his star quarterback, Julian Lewis. The coach is now facing some massive backlash , with many calling on him to take some accountability for the team's woes.
Former NFL linebacker and Colorado football legend Chad Brown has now joined the calls for Deion Sanders to take accountability. He appeared on local Denver radio station 92.5 FM and called out his former team's current coach.
"That's dereliction of coaching duty in my mind, a dereliction of coaching duty," he said. "You are the coach; it falls on you. Particularly, if you said, 'I handpicked every player on this roster.' So if you're the coach who's handpicked these players and they don't perform up to expectations, unfortunately, I think you should take accountability."
He added that he does not think Deion Sanders took any accountability in that press conference after losing to Texas Tech, noting that he is "disappointed" and that the coach should not "blame the kids."
Sanders did not directly blame the quarterbacks during the press conference but answered that reporters know "well what it is," after he was asked for the reason why the team has struggled offensively. USA Today reported that he was implying that the quarterback position was the problem even though he did not directly say it.
Identities Of Three Players Kicked Off The Team By Deion Sanders Revealed
One of the issues that Deion Sanders has been getting flak for was his kicking several players off the team shortly after their loss to Northwestern. Initially, the identities of the three players were not made public. However, the University of Colorado has now released their names:
When he announced the cuts, Sanders stated that he did not want them to "poison the team." He added during his Coach Prime's Playbook show that they had "detrimental" behavior and that he had already given these players several chances.
