COLMAN, S.D. (KELO) - #5 Colman-Egan picked up a dominate 52-14 win over the Arlington Cardinals on Thursday, extending the Hawks undefeated start to 3-0.
The Hawks, who started out the game up 8-0, had a chance to extend their lead to two touchdowns, but trouble with a toss in the backfield led to an Arlington scoop-and-score by senior captain Greyson Nielson. It cut the Colman-Egan lead to two points, but just a few plays later, with sophomore running back Landen McManus breaking free for a long touchdown run that made it 14-6.
The Hawks took a narrow 20-14 lead into the halftime break, but would outscore the Cardinals 32-0 in the second half, powering Colman-Egan to a 38-point victory. The Hawks have won all three of their games by 20 or more points, and have outscored opponents by an average of 33.3 per game.
Both teams will have an eight-day break before getting back in action on Sep. 11. Arlington will welcome Oldham-Ramona-Rutland High School (0-2) to Gilbertson-Anderson Field. Colman-Egan, however, will go to battle with the number one St. Mary's (2-0) on the road.
