“Worst Kicker in Michigan History” “Should Be Walking Home”: CFB Fans React as Trey Butkowski Misses Multiple Field Goals vs Rutgers

Michigan took on Rutgers at the SHI Stadium in New Jersey on Saturday. While the Wolverines started hot, scoring a touchdown on their very first drive, Rutgers answered back in the second quarter with a touchdown of their own.

However, Michigan held only a one-point lead going into halftime after kicker Trey Butkowski missed a 47-yard field goal with 7:50 left in 2Q. This wasn't the only error for the sophomore kicker; he also missed a 35-yard field goal with 3:12 left in the third quarter.

As Rutgers tied the game shortly after with a touchdown and a two-point conversion, fans took to social media to express their discontent with Butkowski after he missed six points that could have been crucial for the Wolverines.

"Trey Butkowski should be walking home."

"STOP SENDING BUTKOWSKI OUT THERE OH MY GOSH HE'S THE WORST KICKER IN MICHIGAN HISTORY WHY HAS HE NOT BEEN BENCHED???!!!"

Tommy Carr Showed Out in Win vs. Rutgers

Michigan quarterback Tommy Carr wasn't the most popular man on the Wolverines squad after a disappointing offensive performance against Indiana, but he redeemed himself against Rutgers.

Carr threw for 266 yards on 22-of-27 completions and a touchdown, while adding 54 yards and two rushing touchdowns to his stat sheet as Michigan survived a late Rutgers comeback in a dominant fourth quarter.

Running back Savion Hiter tallied 76 yards on 20 carries, adding to the dominant run game as the Wolverines rushed for 161 yards total while dominating time of possession. The Wolverines improved to 5-3 and will face archrivals Michigan State next on Nov. 7.
