ADRIAN, M.N. (KELO) — The top-ranked 9-Man team in Minnesota and defending state champion, the Hills-Beaver Creek Patriots continued their winning ways in 2026 with a season opening 38-6 victory over Adrian-Ellsworth.

The Patriots got on the board first in this game and made it 8-0 after a successful two-point conversion.

That's when the home team strung together its two best drives of the game. Adrian marched down the entire field, converted a fourth down and even sprinkled a big play in there before capping off the drive with a Jackson Jenniges rushing touchdown.

The Dragons would miss the two-point conversion to trail 8-6, but recovered a surprise onside kick, driving inside the 20 before turning it over on downs.

That's when Hills-Beaver Creek hit a big play of their own and this one went for a score as Brodie Metzger connected with Riggins Rheault for a long touchdown plus two-point conversion to make it 16-6 at half.

Out of the break, the Pats marched down the field again and Metzger would finish it off with his legs, they would go up 24-6 before adding 14 more points in the second half to win this game 38-6.

Up next, Hills-Beaver Creek hosts Renville County West on next Friday, while Adrian travels to Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda the same day.
