Eagles place star left guard Landon Dickerson on Injured Reserve

The Eagles will have to reconfigure their offensive line after placing starting left guard Landon Dickerson on injured reserve. Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer first reported the move, noting that Dickerson had been playing through multiple ailments. The Eagles' official roster now lists the veteran guard on injured reserve.

Dickerson's physical limitations appeared to affect him during Philadelphia's 24-22 season-opening victory over the Washington Commanders . He played all 55 offensive snaps but allowed three pressures, including one quarterback hit and two hurries. He also committed a holding penalty. Washington consistently disrupted the interior of Philadelphia's offensive line, finishing with three sacks and making it difficult for Jalen Hurts to operate against pressure. Hurts completed only one of his five attempts for 9 yards when pressured, although that completion was a touchdown pass to Dontayvion Wicks .

Dickerson's absence creates an immediate competition involving Drew Kendall and Willie Lampkin . Both players offer experience at guard and center, giving offensive line coach Chris Kuper several possible configurations to consider.

Kendall could receive the first opportunity at left guard, but Lampkin's strength, leverage and experience working at multiple interior positions also make him a candidate. McLane reported that the final decision could depend on whether Philadelphia also makes a change at center. Dickerson has been one of the anchors of Philadelphia's offensive line since the Eagles selected him in the second round of the 2021 NFL draft. His power and physicality have helped establish the identity of a unit built around controlling the line of scrimmage.

Because players placed on injured reserve must miss at least four games, Dickerson will be unavailable against Tennessee , Chicago , the Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville . His earliest possible return would be Philadelphia's Week 6 game against Carolina. Until then, the Eagles must decide whether replacing Dickerson requires one change or a broader reshuffling of an offensive line that struggled in parts of the opener.
