Three LSU Tigers named SEC football players of the week

The Southeastern Conference has announced the league's football players of the week following the SEC's openers to the 2026 season. Following LSU's lopsided victory, three Tigers were named in the honors including QB Sam Leavitt as Co-Offensive Player of the Week as well as OT Jordan Seaton and DE Jordan Ross as Offensive and Defensive Lineman of the Week, respectively.

Sharing the honor with Ole Miss WR Deuce Alexander, Leavitt finished last Saturday with three total touchdowns, two on the ground and one through the air. The QB not only finished as the game's top passer with 230 yards but also tied as the Tigers' leading rusher with another 113 yards. A school record 38 first downs were picked up against Clemson in Leavitt's debut, and the blockers up front were a big reason why, especially Seaton.

Jordan Seaton was a big factor in LSU's offensive success which led to 51 points being scored in the first game of the season. The transfer lineman from Colorado finished with no penalties committed or sacks allowed in his debut in Baton Rouge.

On the other side of the football, junior DE Jordan Ross was flying around the field in what was a truly impressive performance from Blake Baker's defense. Ross was at the center of perhaps the biggest play of the game on Saturday when he intercepted a pass in the first quarter and returned it back for a 30-yard pick-six, sending Death Valley into a frenzy. Ross was also credited with four tackles total, including a sack, and had a QB hurry in the game.

The Tigers were truly winning in every phase of the game in week one and LSU fans are hopeful this can just be a sign of things to come. Congratulations to all of these players.
