A tense match, and it could hardly have been otherwise. If the Ciociari's position in the table had been encouraging so far, De Rossi 's side, on the other hand, badly needed a turning point. Today's point still doesn't bring many smiles, but at least it leaves Venezia bottom of the table .

What was clear was that these were two teams on completely different mental tracks. Genoa tried to respond and, just before half-time, had their biggest chance: Cittadini's handball on Baldanzi 's shot led to the first On Field Review of the season, which in turn brought the first penalty . But from the spot, Colombo closed his body too much on the right-footed effort and incredibly dragged it wide.

But Genoa — for all their flaws — are not a team that gives up , and after the break they increased the pressure until Vasquez's equaliser in the 50th minute. The 1-1 changed the momentum, with Frosinone pushed back into their own final third. Everything changed again late on, though, when Vasquez was sent off for a second yellow after pulling back Fini. Genoa down to 10 men and Frosinone close to snatching it, but Bijlow kept his side afloat.

The draw allows Genoa to finally get off zero in the standings after three straight defeats, including the heavy 4-1 loss to Como . For De Rossi, it is at least a first sign of a reaction, even if the Grifone are still searching for their first win.

Frosinone, meanwhile, move up to seven points and confirm their excellent start as a newly promoted side, albeit with some regret over a match that could also have ended differently.
