Browns fans are angry at HC Todd Monken over Shedeur Sanders decision for final preseason game

Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders will not feature in their final preseason game against the New England Patriots , with the third-and-fourth-string QBs getting playing time instead.

After a competitive training camp, Sanders lost the QB1 battle to veteran Deshaun Watson for Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars .

With the QB1 battle set, coach Todd Monken's decision not to play Sanders as QB1 for more reps in their final preseason game in favor of giving Dillon Gabriel an opportunity has raised some eyebrows.

Browns HC Monken spoke to the media on Tuesday after Sanders was confirmed to be out of the rotation for their preseason finale.

"We're not playing them because we'd like to see Dillon (Gabriel) more. It worked out last game, that was unfair to him. So, in order to do that, to see more of him and see Taylen (Green), there's just not enough reps."

"That's the reason, there's really nothing else. Just trying to see Taylen after he played pretty well in the limited reps he had against the Bills, and we want to see more of Dillon. It just hasn't worked out trying to get those other guys reps. That's the reason."

Gabriel started last season ahead of Sanders in the depth chart before losing his role to Sanders amid a rough rookie season. But with Shedeur going from QB3 to QB1 in one season last year, Gabriel could do the same with enough opportunity.

Browns fans were not happy to see this, as they would rather see Sanders get more reps than continue with the Gabriel experiment that went badly last season.

"It's like they are doing everything we don't want them to do in succession. Dillon Gabriel shouldn't be on an NFL roster, period," said a concerned fan .

"Cleveland Browns are a joke! Don't want Shedeur to play and completely embarrass them for picking Deshaun Watson over him!" said another fan .

"They want to trade Dillon and he needs more tape. They don't want Shedeur to shine and cause even more uproar over Watson being named," believes one fan .

"He's a clown. Can't wait for our 24th head coach when Monken is fired after this season," said one angry fan .

"That's stunning. Is this real life?" was all one stunned fan could say.
