'It's our song;' Oregon not amused by Boise State celebration during 'Shout!'

Not many expected a tie game at the end of the third quarter at Autzen Stadium. The Oregon Ducks entered the season opener against Boise State as heavy favorites and could have used the quarter to experiment with different players in a potential blowout.

And, as they usually do, the Ducks could have danced and celebrated to "Shout!" which is always played at the end of the third quarter.

Instead, the Ducks found themselves in a dogfight with an unranked foe, and it was the Broncos who were dancing.

The Ducks slumbered along the sideline, walking to the other end of the field, while Boise State's sideline turned into the Delta House from the film 'Animal House', parading the field and leaping with joy as the possible upset loomed.

That didn't sit well with the Ducks just across the field, many of whom saw the celebration and used it as fuel for the final 15 minutes. Oregon quarterback Dante Moore followed the event with a pair of scoring drives, including a 62-yard strike to Dakorien Moore for the eventual winning score.

"It was funny that they did the 'Shout!'" Moore said. "It was a little weird, but hey, who knows. It was like, 'Hey, you can't do that in our home. So we made sure that we go out there and capitalize and finish drives and put some points on the board."

Just two years ago, when Moore was sitting as the backup behind Dillon Gabriel , Oregon had a similar strategy on the road at Wisconsin. Instead of letting the "Jump Around" moment at the end of the third quarter pump up the crowd and deflate their sideline, the Ducks danced and embraced it.

Moore recognized the contradiction, but understood the drive behind it as a visiting team walking into hostile territory.

"They were just doing something that we've done before, and that's just trying to flip your mind when you're playing away to try to steal the juice from the crowd," Moore said. "We seen it. We laughed at it. We went out there and put points on the board."

Boise State head coach Spencer Danielson said it was something the Broncos had been planning for weeks to find a way to finish strong. Unfortunately for the upset-minded Broncos, the plan seemed to backfire.

The Broncos had a long drive for a field goal to start the final quarter, but went three-and-out and succumbed to Oregon's pass rush on the final drive before turning the ball over on downs to effectively end the game.

Moore said the moment motivated Oregon's sideline to finish the game strong and own the field. The Oregon quarterback finished the game with a career-high 378 passing yards and three touchdowns.

It especially motivated tight end Jamari Johnson , who was none too pleased by the Broncos' antics, according to Moore's recollection.

"(Johnson) was screaming at me, like, 'This is some BS,'" Moore recalled.

"They were having their fun, but I kind of took it as a little disrespect," Johnson said. "It's our song. Y'all don't got no business dancing to our song. They're a great team though, and I give them their props. They play hard. But that was a little funny to see them out there dancing."

The Ducks will celebrate the come-from-behind victory, but there likely won't be much dancing after a sloppy showing to begin the season. Oregon will get a chance to regroup and respond with a better outing in the team's first road test next Saturday at Oklahoma State.
