‘It’s all about her and only her’: Criticism mounts for Angel Reese after ‘selfish’ play

Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream are in the midst of a four-game winning streak, and on Monday night, in a win over the Los Angeles Sparks , Reese etched her name in the history books. Reese snagged a record-breaking 26 rebounds in the game, the most dominant performance on the glass in the WNBA's 30-year history.

Reese also recorded yet another double-double, scoring 11 points in the contest. However, the manner in which she scored her final bucket has been deemed "unethical" by some fans.

With the outcome already decided and less than 20 seconds remaining in regulation, Reese was camped out back at the Dream's basket rather than running back to defend with her teammates, which left her wide open to collect an outlet pass and reach double-digit scoring.

The original poster wasn't alone in his criticisms of Reese.

"Even half the time she does this she blows the layup and can't score. Shoots under 50% from within a couple ft of the basket. How's that even possible? Great rebounder but she's absolutely unskilled," one fan posted on X.

"Ahhh, now I can plainly see why she misses these layups. She jumps with both feet at the same time. Why hasn't this been corrected?" another fan wondered.

"What a low IQ and selfish play. Up 7 with 15 seconds left and she doesn't run the clock out?" someone else posted.

There's no denying that Reese's offensive game needs some polishing, but even so, her impact is undeniable. Reese is on a surefire path to ending up in the Hall of Fame, and with the Dream peaking right before the playoffs, she might even beat her rival Caitlin Clark to a WNBA championship.
