Nebraska punter Archie Wilson named to midseason watch list

Nebraska football punter Archie Wilson was named to the Ray Guy Midseason Award watch list. This was announced by the school on its website.

Wilson has played a pivotal role for the program, especially over the last couple of weeks. He was named the Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week earlier this week after he averaged 49.8 yards per punt on five punts in last Saturday's game against the Washington Huskies .

In addition to last Saturday, he has been consistent throughout the season. He ranks 21st nationally in the Big Ten, averaging 45.1 yards per kick. 14 of his 31 punts been inside the opponent's 20-yard line.

Wilson may be needed on a bigger scale Friday, when Nebraska takes on Illinois. Field position will matter, and Wilson has been the architect behind the Huskers putting opponents deep. Kickoff of the game is set for 7 p.m. CT.
