Thousands of runners race around Uptown in annual Around the Crown 10K

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- The 6.2-mile race around Uptown Charlotte kicked off Sunday morning.

Runners ran around the Queen City, starting outside the Mint Museum and ending outside Truist Field.

The event benefits local nonprofits like Sustain Charlotte.

"This is our largest year we've ever had, the largest growth we've ever had, so the community in Charlotte continues to show up," said Brian Mister, founder and director of the event. "The running community across the nation is growing right now, and we're just going to keep riding this amazing wave we're on."
