EAST LANSING - All-American point guard Jeremy Fears Jr. landed hard on a driving layup, grabbing at his lower left leg and foot during Michigan State basketball's exhibition game with Connecticut on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
The preseason national and Big Ten player of the year landed on the Huskies' Colben Landrew with 17:53 left in the second half. Fears grabbed at his left ankle and lower leg while laying on the court. He got back up and hobbled to the bench, checking himself out of the game and immediately going to the training staff.
His stay was brief. Fears received treatment and checked back into the game with 15:44 to play, with coach Tom Izzo telling him to take it easy.
That scare came after the 6-foot-2 point guard had an electric tomahawk dunk in the first half over Landrew.
