Grayson Waller vs. Tony D'Angelo Winner, Top Highlights from NXT Halloween Havoc 2026

Grayson Waller defeated Tony D'Angelo at Halloween Havoc on Saturday night to retain the NXT Championship.

Shortly after the win, CM Punk challenged Waller for the NXT Title. The two will compete for the title next Wednesday.

D'Angelo won a Fatal 4-Way match at Stand & Deliver back in April to become NXT champion for the first time, but his reign came to an end after less than five months thanks to Waller.

In July, Waller made a shocking return to NXT after spending years on WWE's main roster. He cut a promo in which he called out the entire NXT men's division, and made it clear that he wanted to become NXT champion.

Waller accomplished his goal just one month later when he beat D'Angelo, Cruz Montana and Zilla Fatu in a Fatal 4-Way match for the NXT Championship at Heatwave.

D'Angelo quickly went to work trying to earn a rematch, but he initially hit a stumbling block when he lost a No. 1 contender's Triple Threat won by Mason Rook.

However, Rook was not medically cleared to compete against Waller, and after Waller successfully defended his title against EK Prosper, who stepped in for Rook, Tony D was back in the mix.

Both D'Angelo and Myles Borne confronted Waller and tried to get him to agree to put the NXT Championship on the line, and the Aussie Superstar decided to do so against the winner of a No. 1 contender's match between D'Angelo and Borne.

D'Angelo was victorious in that bout on the Oct. 13 episode of NXT, which made Waller vs. D'Angelo official for Halloween Havoc.

Defending the NXT Championship for the first time at an NXT premium live event, Waller prevailed and denied D'Angelo the chance to become a two-time NXT champion.
