Over the past several months, the sports world has been gradually embracing prediction markets, with Major League Baseball announcing a multi-year partnership with Polymarket back in March and the NHL doing so with both Kalshi and Polymarket last year. Now, one of the most high-profile individual athletes on the planet is joining that push.
On Saturday morning, NBA megastar LeBron James, who just signed with the Philadelphia 76ers as a free agent, shared a video on social media seemingly announcing a partnership with Polymarket while announcing something called "Polymarket HQ."
In the rather cryptic video, James can be seen in an elevator looking at a series of buttons that include things like politics, crypto, sports, economy, culture, weather, esports, and technology. James then pushes the button for "sports," and the video cuts to him stepping out of the elevator while "The Largest" by BigXthaPlug plays in the background.
"Welcome to Polymarket HQ. Coming soon," James wrote in the caption , adding an eyes emoji. "In partnership with Polymarket."
Polymarket quickly replied to the post, writing, "Thanks for swinging by our HQ," adding the goat emoji to reference James.
It's not clear what exactly "Polymarket HQ" is – whether it's a physical space, a new feature, or just some sort of advertising campaign – but it is quite clear that LeBron James is now a partner with the prediction market, which is a first for both the NBA and Polymarket.
While the NBA is reportedly in talks with Polymarket , James is the first individual player to sign a partnership with the prediction market and the first individual player that Polymarket has ever signed to such a partnership.
Back in January, golf superstar Bryson DeChambeau signed an ambassador deal with Kalshi in January 2026, making him the first major athlete to partner with a prediction market platform, as he now incorporates Kalshi's markets into his massive YouTube channel. The NFL and PGA Tour, however, reportedly do not allow players to endorse prediction markets.
