Broncos vs. Jaguars: 5 things Denver fans should know about the Jags

The Denver Broncos ' (0-1) look to bounce back from a tough Week 1 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in their home opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday Sept. 20. In preparation for the matchup, we went behind enemy lines and asked Paul Bretl of Jaguars Wire five questions about Jacksonville's squad and Sunday's matchup. Check out our questions and Paul's answers below.

1) The Jaguars were a playoff team in 2025. What were some of the big changes that were made in the offseason that fans may not know about?

In terms of major additions, it was a relatively quiet offseason for the Jaguars. The team did, however, lose LB Devin Lloyd and RB Travis Etienne in free agency.

2) What is a position of strength for the Jaguars in 2026? A position of weakness?

A strength is the wide receiver room. The depth is strong, as is the playmaking potential of this group. But in addition to that, there are a variety of skill sets and different ways that this room can beat opponents, which only adds to the difficulty of defending this unit.

The "weakness" wasn't much of a weakness in Week 1, but there are questions around the running game. First, can Bhayshul Tuten and Chris Rodriguez make up for Etienne's absence? And second, the play of the offensive line unit a season ago was inconsistent in the ground game.

3) Name one new Jaguar, draftee or free agent signing, everyone should look out for in 2026.

TE Nate Bo erkircher. He was the Jaguars' second-round draft pick. While Boerkircher may not fill the stat sheet, his ability as a blocker and to impact the passing game allows Liam Coen to utilize more two-tight-end sets, not to mention that Boerkircher's presence can open up the playbook and opportunities for Brenton Strange .

4) Coming off a dominant Week 1 performance, what are the keys to victory for the Jaguars on the road in Week 2?

I'm looking at the line of scrimmage. Can the offensive line provide a steady running game to lean on? If so, this already potent Jaguars' offense becomes even more difficult to defend when that element is paired with Trevor Lawrence and the pass game. On the other side of the ball, slowing the Denver run game can make the offense one-dimensional, allowing Josh Hines-Allen , Travon Walker , and others can get after Bo Nix.

It's a tough opponent and in a difficult environment, but going back to last season, the Jaguars are playing really good football on both offense and defense. Jaguars 27, Broncos 24
