Rocori eighth grader named St. Cloud Times Athlete of the Week, Sept. 14-21

ST. CLOUD — After five goals in a 6-3 win over Little Falls last week, Rocori eighth-grade forward Jasmine Perez won the St. Cloud Times Athlete of the Week.

Perez also shines on the track, where the speed certainly translates over to the pitch, clocking a personal best 12.03 in the 100-meter dash at the state championships this past June. The Spartans are 5-5 this season with the help of Perez leading the team with nine goals.

She won the poll with 47.6% of the votes, followed by St. John's forward Shay Richter (7 goals) with 37.6% of the votes. Tech receiver Everett Stine (9 rec, 208 yards, 4 TD), Tech quarterback Andrew Brown (20-22, 336 yards, 5 TD), Sartell running back Jonah Ambrosier (207 yards, 3 TD), Apollo distance runner Zili Lenzner (First at Lucky Lindy and 18:14.5 5K PB at Roy Griak), Albany outside hitter Layla Wenderski (26 kills) and Becker outside hitter Mena Knaack (41 kills) followed.

Voting for Athlete of the Week runs weekly from Monday at noon to Friday at noon.
