Penta Primed for an All-Timer vs. Roman Reigns, Rey Fénix Shines in Defeat, More WWE Raw Fallout

The Rocket Arena in Cleveland hosted the August 31 episode of WWE Raw on Netflix where Penta and Rey Fénix stole the show and the stable warfare continued.

Penta defeated his brother to earn the next World Heavyweight Championship opportunity against Roman Reigns.

Royce Keys and OTM attacked The Usos, forcing Jacob Fatu to declare war against his former friend. Reigns again dealt with LA Knight, who taunted the champion.

Roman Reigns vs. Penta Will Be WWE TV Match of the Year

Is Penta the best WWE in-ring worker of 2026? He has certainly made a compelling case.

Time and again, when WWE has let the unique luchador perform, he has delivered beyond usual expectations.

His match with Rey Fénix was always going to be great, but for a fresh WWE audience, this was one of the best TV matches of the year.

The two brothers were unstoppable in the ring, running and flying at a confident pace that few could match.

That said, Penta's best match of the year is still to come. He has earned a chance to face Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship.

There is no chance Penta actually wins, but the excitement building for this match is the potential of these two unique stars colliding for the first time.

Reigns has not faced anyone quite like Penta in many years. His hard-hitting style matched with his lucha libre speed will make him a unique threat to The OTC.

If they get time in Mexico City, Reigns will be pushed to deliver the best work of his career in years to keep up with Penta's unreal pace.

That is a recipe for success, a match that could be talked about for years to come.

Rey Fénix Has Earned Much Bigger Spotlight

While Penta delivered another expected impressive performance on Raw, WWE fans are still somewhat unfamiliar with Rey Fénix.

That made his work with Penta all the more memorable. The two men went out of their way to sell that they are relative equals in the ring.

There is no better time to push Fénix, who has finally started to show the potential he showcased much more regularly before he signed with WWE.

This is a former AAA Mega champion and AEW international champion who can deliver at the highest level in the ring.

He could be a memorable challenger in the United States Championship scene on SmackDown immediately.

In the long term, Fénix should be a champion in WWE, not just AAA, because his talent will elevate anyone who challenges him for the gold.

Jacob Fatu Ready to Turn on Roman Reigns

The spirit of Jacob Fatu has been overshadowed by Roman Reigns, but he has not been forgotten.

The Samoan Werewolf is an untapped Superstar who could genuinely take over WWE with the right opportunity.

If Fatu can just break away from The Bloodline, he can become a dangerous threat in the company as a whole, one of the top heels in the business.

That villainous turn could be on the horizon based on small teases on Raw.

In particular, the way Fatu has moved when it comes to Solo Sikoa and LA Knight vs. Royce Keys and OTM.

While The Samoan Werewolf verbally declared war against Keys and OTM, he physically attacked and bloodied Sikoa.

Fatu could easily be playing The Bloodline while working with former friend Keys. And if The Samoan Werewolf is behind Keys and OTM, he suddenly becomes Raw's top heel.

That is a massive spotlight that could quickly change the landscape of Monday nights.

Why Doesn't Raw Have More Women's Stars?

Raquel Rodriguez received some help from Lyra Valkyria in defending her Women's Intercontinental Championship against Sol Ruca, but it was still a big win for the titleholder.

At the moment, there is little point in running additional matches between Raquel and Ruca as the champion needs to move on to fresh competition.

The problem is that no one is stepping up to challenge Big Mami Cool besides Ruca. There is no clear next woman up for the Women's Intercontinental Championship.

This is a problem because it limits the champion and her potential to define herself beyond Liv Morgan and The Judgment Day.

This is Raquel's first singles title run on Raw. Her career could be defined by her reign, yet that run is starting slow and looking to slow down even more.

Instead of waiting for Ruca and Valkyria to feud, WWE should send over fresh names for Raquel, even if they are underused talents on SmackDown such as Jordynne Grace or Giulia.

NXT has multiple stars who could use a trial run on Raw like Kendal Grey, Jaida Parker or Wren Sinclair.

It is time to take some chances and see who could add depth to a Raw women's division that lacks depth.

Joe Hendry has frequently disappeared from Raw since his initial debut earlier in the year, and each time he returns, it feels like WWE cares less about him.

Coming in to help Je'Von Evans against Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh just to lose is not the role he would have played a few months ago.

With Logan Paul's injury, his first feud was delayed, but it feels much more like WWE has lost faith in his star power.

This may have been influenced by the horrendous Danhausen concert segment, but Danhausen has stayed in mostly the same position since then.

More likely, Hendry has just done little to shine in the same way he did in sporadic appearances for WWE before.

The biggest culprit for this decline is a lack of creativity. The Scot was constantly used in creative ways in NXT whenever he appeared, but on Raw, he is just another body.

His matches are forgettable, and his big chances to deliver concerts or surprise appearances have lacked the joyful flair he once possessed before signing with WWE.

There may not be an easy answer for Hendry, but he needs to find some way to convince WWE to go a bit more wild with him again sooner rather than later.

The concerts are fine, but the heart of his gimmick was his sudden, fiery arrivals to help other faces that always turned the tide.

Hendry needs to be treated like a real problem when he appears. Otherwise, there is no point to saying his name.
