Savannah State volleyball begins SIAC play with young team (DNP)

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Savannah State volleyball has started the season 2-10 after a loss to Edward Waters Tuesday.

Before that the Lady Tigers went 1-3 at the first SIAC crossover. They earned a win over Central State, and fell to Kentucky State, Spring Hill College, and Miles College.

Savannah state is battling with a young team. The roster features seven freshman, five sophomores, three juniors, and only one senior.

Head coach Roselidah Obunaga said the team is learning fast, and have theirs eyes set to make the SIAC tournament at the end of the season.

"They really don't have anything to lose at this point because they're just getting started," said Obunaga.

Savannah State's next match will be against Clark Atlanta on Thursday, Sep. 24 at 6:00 p.m.
