NASCAR driver to have Annika 'goat' logo on Camaro for championship race

As the LPGA's Race to the CME Globe wraps up, Annika Sorenstam's name will be taking laps around the Homestead-Miami Speedway.

For the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race, Gainbridge driver Michael McDowell and Spire Motorsports have unveiled a special livery for his No. 71 Chevrolet Camero ZL1 that includes an Annika 59 goat, the club's pelican and LPGA logo.

"I'm looking forward to meeting Michael at The ANNIKA at Pelican Golf Club in November and watching the No. 71 Annika Chevrolet hopefully take the checkered flag at the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race," said Sorenstam in a release. "Thank you to our incredible partners at Gainbridge and Group 1001 for this unique partnership - shining a spotlight and elevating women's sports."

The race will take place Nov. 8, just ahead of The Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican, the penultimate event on the LPGA's 2026 schedule.

The car's decklid will also include a list of LPGA players eligible for the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship. On race day, McDowell will wear a caddie-inspired bib and golf pants. The following week, he will take part in the LPGA's Wednesday pro-am as a celebrity caddie. Last year, both Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham played in the event's pro-am.

"I'm definitely not the best golfer in the world, so it's easy for me to appreciate the talented players on the LPGA Tour," McDowell said in a release. "I'm really looking forward to visiting Pelican Golf Club to be part of the festivities and seeing the event in person. I know how important this tournament is to our partners at Group 1001 and Gainbridge, so this is a great opportunity for Spire Motorsports to play an important supporting role."

The top 60 players in the Race to the CME Globe advance to the tour championship and a chance at a $4 million winner's prize.
