Packers Running Back Josh Jacobs Charged With Battery

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was charged Thursday with two misdemeanors related to his arrest in May.

Brown County prosecutors charged Jacobs with misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor criminal damage to property. Those were two of the five charges Jacobs was arrested for on May 26.

Jacobs was arrested three months ago in connection to a domestic dispute, leading to bookings for preliminary charges that included domestic abuse battery, disorderly conduct, and felony strangulation/suffocation.

In addition to those charges, Jacobs could face discipline under the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy.

"We've obviously prepared for that in case that happens," Green Bay general manager Brian Gutekunst said Wednesday.

Gutekunst said the Packers could keep an additional running back when they finalize their 53-man roster on Sunday.

"I think again we'll deal with that if that transpires, but we could" Gutekunst said. "You're always usually going to keep three or four running backs, and I think we have enough to do that. But again it comes down to choices and trying to figure that out."

Jacobs started all 15 games he played in 2025 and recorded a team-high 929 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on 234 carries (4.0 average). Jacobs joined fullback Jim Taylor (1961-62) as the only players in Packer history to record 13-plus rushing touchdowns in back-to-back seasons.

Jacobs tied for fourth in the NFL in rushing touchdowns and posted a rushing touchdown in 10 games, which tied for No. 1 in the NFL. He also ranked second on the team with 36 receptions for 282 yards (7.8) and a receiving touchdown.

Jacobs was also inactive for two games — Week 12 with a knee injury and Week 18 as a healthy scratch.

Jacobs ranks No. 2 in the NFL in rushing yards (7,803) and rushing touchdowns (74), and No. 3 in yards from scrimmage (9,875) since entering the league in 2019.
