Presidents Cup live leaderboard, updates: Scottie Scheffler, Sam Burns lead U.S. team early Thursday at Medinah

The Presidents Cup is officially off and running in Chicago.

The United States opened the biennial event against the International team on Thursday afternoon at Medinah Country Club, looking for what would be an 11th straight win. They've dominated the event since its inception in the mid-1990s, too, and have only lost once.

Top-ranked Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns opened play on Thursday, going up against Min Woo Lee and Sungjae Im in the first of five four-ball matches. Scheffler, despite plenty of success on the PGA Tour, has largely struggled on the international stage in recent years. He's yet to win a match alongside Burns, a close friend of his, too.

While we're just getting started, the first team to reach 15.5 points will claim the Presidents Cup. Each match is worth a full point, though both teams will claim a half point should they tie.
