Keisean Nixon will play Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Friday. The cornerback missed Wednesday's practice with a groin injury, then practiced on a limited basis Thursday and Friday.
Nixon carries no game status on the final injury report, according to the Packers . The other starting cornerback, Brandon Cisse, was added to the report Friday and is questionable with a hip injury. Benjamin St-Juste is out with a hamstring injury.
LaFleur checked on Nixon on Wednesday. Nixon answered with a question.
"He'll play," LaFleur said. "I asked him on Wednesday, because he doesn't miss too many practices, and he looked at me and said, 'How many games have I missed since I've been here?' He's just wired the right way and he loves to compete."
"I think he's played pretty well," LaFleur continued. "I think we've got a great challenge in front of us when you talk about the two wideouts on the perimeter. And then you've got Dak. But I think he had a good day of practice yesterday, so I'm excited for those guys."
Keisean Nixon calls his body 'my resume'
Nixon said availability is the standard he holds himself to. He credited a routine he does not change from week to week.
"I take my body serious," Nixon said. "It's my resume. It's my life. I take pride in playing every Sunday. That's just my goal and what I want to do."
"Pray to the man above," Nixon continued. "Keep the process the same. I feel like if you stay on your regimen and don't go away from it, it'll help you. So it's been working out for me for sure."
The groin was sore at the start of the week. Nixon said that is why he sat out Wednesday.
"I feel a lot better right now," Nixon said. "First day was kind of sore, so they didn't have me practice. And then after that, I feel straight. I'm ready to do it."
Keisean Nixon is ready for CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens
Safety Evan Williams said this week the secondary is "licking your chops" for a quarterback who throws as often as Dak Prescott does. Nixon did not adopt the phrase.
"I'm excited," Nixon said. "You know the ball is going to be in the air, so it's an opportunity for the players to make it for sure. I don't know about licking my chops, but I'm definitely ready for the competition for sure."
Nixon was asked how he would grade his play through five games. He left that to the reporters in the room.
"I don't know. Y'all tell me," Nixon said. "Y'all criticize me more than I do myself. So I keep the same process. I'm here just playing ball. We're going to see at the end of the year."
Sunday is a prime-time game at Lambeau Field, and Nixon said that raises the stakes for the people watching at home more than the opponent does.
"I don't know if it's against the Cowboys, but anytime it's the primetime game, your family watching, the people that you grew up with, everything matters," Nixon said. "Everything's going to be more shown, so you've got to play ball."
The Packers (3-2) host the Cowboys (2-3) at 7:20 p.m. CT on NBC and Peacock.
