Jets news: Aaron Glenn admits crucial decisions went completely over his head

The New York Jets took home a win in Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season. In Week 2, they had a chance to upset Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers . Unfortunately, head coach Aaron Glenn watched as his team lost to the Packers in overtime.

Glenn came under fire after the game for his clock management. There were two specific moments that drew the ire of fans. One came at the end of regulation, when timeouts were not used. Then, in overtime, Glenn and the Jets elected to take the ball first.

"I did not consider using (the timeout) at that point at all. I want to go back and really look at it, to be honest with you. They took the penalty on that… At that point, I didn't want to put ourself in the position where we take the time out. Just let it end," Glenn said of the end of regulation situation , via SNY Jets.

"Usually, if you can get yourself in a situation like that, you can control the clock. You can control how they play offense once you go and score… We just didn't do a good job in that situation," the Jets head coach said of his overtime decision .

The Jets had a lead in this contest. In fact, they held a 17-7 lead over the Packers in the fourth quarter. However, Green Bay stormed all the way back to force the extra quarter. They went on to win thanks to a Trey Smack 26-yard field goal.

The Jets certainly wanted to win this one and head into Week 3 undefeated. Instead, Glenn will face his former team, the Detroit Lions , on the road on September 27, looking to avoid falling below .500.
