Aaron Rodgers makes uncomfortable Packers admission ahead of retirement

Aaron Rodgers could have one final chance to return to the team where he started before ending his playing career, making a potential appearance at Lambeau Field especially meaningful. His time with the Green Bay Packers produced the defining achievements of his career, including four league MVP awards and a Super Bowl title.

With Rodgers preparing to retire after the 2026 season, a return to Lambeau Field could have been a fitting way to close that chapter. However, Rodgers has indicated that coming back to Green Bay in another role may not be something he is interested in. He would still welcome an invitation from the Packers, but he acknowledged that it may never come.

"I think there's some people that have a lot of affection for me, and I would assume we're talking four or five years from now that there will be fans who still have appreciation for what I've done, especially after so much time has passed," commented the former Packers superstar via ESPN's Rob Demovsky.

Only a handful of figures from Rodgers' time in Green Bay remain with the organization , including general manager Brian Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur. Rodgers' relationship with Gutekunst became strained near the end of his Packers tenure, with the general manager ultimately sending him to the New York Jets .

"I think there's certain people in the building who wouldn't be totally on board, and maybe I wouldn't be on board if they were still there as well."

Even with the way his departure played out, Rodgers does not want that chapter of his career to overshadow everything he accomplished in Green Bay. He still values the relationships he built during his time with the Packers and the friendships he formed along the way.

"I loved my time there. And I didn't let the ending skew any of the good times that we had and how much I enjoyed playing there and playing at Lambeau and being around so many great people over the years."
