Ryan Fox, Min Woo Lee brace for unique DGC test

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Golf Club is a course that demands patience, imagination and acceptance that power alone will not guarantee success. For Ryan Fox and Min Woo Lee, two of the most recognisable names in the field at the India Championship, the challenge begins with leaving one of their biggest weapons out of the bag: the driver.Ahead of the tournament, both players offered an insight into the demands of a venue where narrow fairways, dense rough and intricate greens are expected to reward discipline over aggression. For Fox, arriving in India after a career-defining victory at The Open Championship at the Royal Birkdale earlier this year, the change represents an intriguing tactical challenge. For Lee, it is another opportunity to test the progress he has made in developing a more complete game.“Very unique. No drivers, which is a little bit different to a normal course,” Lee said of the course after playing the Pro-Am. “It’s going to test my mental strength this week,” he added. The Australian expects the conditions to make life particularly difficult for those who stray from the fairway.Meanwhile, Fox arrives in the Capital with a different perspective on pressure. The New Zealander admitted that winning a Major has changed almost every aspect of his professional life and bringing greater attention. The biggest adjustment has been learning when to say no and protecting the time needed to prepare.Lee has built his reputation on prodigious hitting, an entertaining personality and an attacking style. However, his preparations for the new season have involved a significant technical transformation. The Australian revealed that he initially resisted changes suggested by his coaching team, believing his explosive swing remained good enough. Eventually, however, he accepted that further progress required a willingness to rebuild.“We probably did a whole month of boot camp, like not even seeing a golf ball,” Lee said.Stay updated with the latest Asian Games 2026 news, check the Asian Games medal tally and complete Asian Games schedule.Get the latest Sports News and Live updates.
