Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy or Matt Fitzpatrick? Have your say on who should win PGA Tour's Player of the Year award

Ahead of the BMW Championship, McIlroy said there was 'no chance' he should be considered, despite defending his title at The Masters and placing tied-for-fourth at the Tour Championship.

Scottie Scheffler has won the award - determined by a vote by PGA Tour members - each of the last four seasons and is in the running to win his fifth consecutive title, after the world No 1 secured a three-stroke victory at the Tour Championship on August 30 , to claim his second FedExCup title

Clark, Matt Fitzpatrick, Chris Gotterup and Cameron Young are all multiple winners on the PGA Tour in 2026 and are also in contention to win the coveted award.

Scheffler bookended his 2026 PGA Tour season with victories at The American Express in January and the Tour Championship in August, where he produced a spectacular final-day fightback, making up a three-shot deficit, before going on to win by three strokes.

While he may not have won as many tournaments on the PGA Tour as he did in 2025, when he dominated winning six events, it's still been an excellent campaign, with the world No 1 also winning the FedEx St. Jude Championship in August.

The 30-year-old's triumph at the Tour Championship also saw him overtake Tiger Woods in the PGA Tour's career money list and become only the third player, alongside McIlroy and Woods, to win multiple FedExCups.

What's been most remarkable about Scheffler this season is his consistency. The world No 1 has placed as a runner-up five times on the PGA Tour in 2026, and became the first-ever PGA Tour player to secure three consecutive solo runner-up finishes at The Masters, the RBC Heritage and The Cadillac Championship.

McIlroy has won this award three times, and after successfully defending his Masters title in April , he once again finds himself a contender to be crowned the PGA Tour's Player of the Year.

He's played some fantastic golf this season, notably dazzling fans with his incredible distance off the tee at The Open , and has enjoyed some great results too, including a tied-second finish at the Genesis Invitational , top-ten finishes at the PGA Championship and Genesis Scottish Open .

After struggling with his game at the FedEx St. Jude Championship , McIlroy bounced back to wrap up his PGA Tour season with two brilliant finishes, securing third place at the BMW Championship and ended his week at the Tour Championship tied for fourth at 11 under par.

It's been Fitzpatrick's most successful PGA Tour season to date, with the 2022 US Open Champion clinching three PGA Tour victories, while placing as a runner-up twice, notably just missing out on winning The Players .

After being denied by Young at TPC Sawgrass, Fitzpatrick went on to win in his next PGA Tour start at The Valspar Championship , before later claiming back-to-back titles at the RBC Heritage and the Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside his brother Alex .

At the Tour Championship, Fitzpatrick performed well over the first three rounds, going eight under par through 54 holes, before he came unstuck in his final round, posting a three-over 73 to finish five under par and tied for 21st.

Clark joined Fitzpatrick at tied for 21st at the Tour Championship, but despite slipping down the leaderboard in the PGA Tour's end-of-season event, it's been a brilliant year for the American.

Like the Englishman, has also enjoyed his most fruitful PGA Tour season, winning three events in 2026, including a two-stroke victory at the BMW Championship .

The American's first victory of the year came at the CJ Cup in May , before he won his second US Open title at Shinnecock Hills , with Clark showcasing his incredible putting skills to beat Sam Burns by one shot.

Young picked up the second and third victories of his PGA Tour career in 2026, winning The Players in March and outscoring Scheffler to win The Cadillac Championship in May.

He came close to winning his first major championship at The Open in July, where he finished one shot back from winner Ryan Fox , in second place.

After placing Tied-61st at the Wyndham Championship and finishing outside the top 30 at both the FedEx St. Jude Championship and the BMW Championship, Young rose up the leaderboard to finish tied for 11th at the Tour Championship, six shots back from Scheffler.

Gotterup got his 2026 campaign off to a fast start, winning the season-opening Sony Open in Hawaii in January, before he beat Hideki Matsuyama in a play-off to win the WM Phoenix Open the following month.

The 27-year-old's third win came later in the season at the John Deere Classic , making this his most successful season on the PGA Tour yet.

Gotterup would miss the cut at the Rocket Classic, and finish tied-30th at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, before he wrapped up what's been a stellar season with back-to-back tied-fourth finishes at the BMW Championship and the Tour Championship.

After the PGA Tour season came to a climax at the Tour Championship, attention now turns to the DP World Tour, the Solheim Cup and the Presidents Cup.
