The blows just keep on coming to Matthew Golden and the Green Bay Packers , who are only 1-2 after three weeks of the 2026 NFL season.
Even in their lone win thus far against the New York Jets in Week 2, the Packers didn't look particularly convincing, and making matters worse was the neck injury suffered by wide receiver Jayden Reed during that contest .
Reed is done for the rest of the season, leaving a significant hole in the team's Jordan Love-led passing attack. Among those counted upon by Green Bay to step up and help cover the void left by Reed is rising wideout Golden, who has led the Packers in receiving yards in each of the last two games.

Talking to reporters, Golden expressed his thoughts on Reed, who has helped him in more ways than one in adjusting to life in the pros.
"I'm kind of hurt to because me and J Reed got tight. I seen how much work he put in this offseason. The impact he had on me coming into my second year… I feel like we have a good connection," the former Texas Longhorns star wide receiver Golden said on Wednesday, via Vince Lovergine of WLUK-TV FOX 11 .
With Reed out, Golden can be expected to get even more looks downfield. He is coming off a breakout game with 100 receiving yards and a touchdown (his career's first in the regular season) on five catches and 12 targets, albeit in a 35-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons at Lambeau Field in Week 3.
Golden will look to keep it going in Week 4, as Green Bay aims to get back to its winning ways and avoid a 1-3 record when the team takes on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road this coming Sunday.
Selected by Green Bay in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Golden has 253 receiving yards and a touchdown on 15 receptions through three games this season.
