NFL expert exposes the Green Bay Packers’ troubling trend for the first time in almost a decade

The Green Bay Packers stumbled out of the gate in 2026, and their rough start only grew worse after Atlanta handed Green Bay a 35-14 defeat on Thursday Night Football. The loss brought loud boos from the Lambeau Field crowd and added to the concerns surrounding the team just three games into the season. Green Bay 's early struggles now rank among the franchise's worst starts in recent years.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Green Bay has reached a point it has not experienced in almost 10 years, with the Packers sitting at 1-2 through the opening three games of the season.

"The Packers have lost two of their first three games this season by 17+ points. They had not lost multiple games by 17+ points in an entire season since 2017," wrote the NFL analyst in his post on X (formerly Twitter).

The Packers opened the season with a 17-point defeat to Minnesota after allowing 22 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. However, Thursday night brought an even more damaging result, as Green Bay fell by 21 points in what was easily its worst showing of the season.

The Green Bay Packers concerning early struggles

Green Bay's early season struggles go beyond its 1-2 record. Micah Parsons continues to watch from the sidelines while recovering from his ACL injury, and Josh Jacobs remains on the commissioner's exempt list with no definite return date.

The Packers have also lost several contributors to injuries, with Jayden Reed , Zach Bako Bewele, and Aaron Banks among those dealing with setbacks. Even with those challenges in mind, Green Bay's performances have fallen short of the standard the organization normally expects.

Thursday's loss was certainly a setback, but it has not put the Packers out of contention. Green Bay remains within striking distance in the NFC North, and several divisional games are still ahead on the schedule. A quick turnaround would give the team enough time to recover from its difficult opening stretch and make a push later in the season. Still, the early results have given Packers fans legitimate reasons to be concerned.

Green Bay will hit the road for its Week 4 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . The Packers will travel to Raymond James Stadium for the October 4 contest, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET.
