Drake London teams with Michael Penix in season-saving win for Falcons

All it took was the return of Michael Penix Jr. for former Trojan Drake London to show what type of receiver he can be. It was a long two weeks for London in September, dealing with substandard quarterback play with the Atlanta Falcons . To be fair, he hasn't had competent quarterback play his whole tenure in Atlanta. However, there was some magic on display in the connection between Penix and London on Thursday Night Football.

The Green Bay Packers were on the wrong side of that reality. London posted a nearly perfect performance. London hauled in 9 of his 10 targets for 194 yards. That is double what he had combined in the first two weeks of the season. The impact of Penix was felt instantly in game 1. Penix Jr. looks to be the key to this Falcons' new offense being successful and the key to further unlocking London.

London now has a quarterback who knows how to get him the ball. London got his big contract this offseason, and in this game he showed Atlanta it was money well spent. All that was needed was for the quarterback play to improve, and a healthy Penix looked to be the solution to that.

If this is just a hint of what this duo can be this season in a new offense, what was once a dead season can gain new life. We haven't even mentioned what Bijan Robinson also did on the ground against the Green Bay Packers. This Falcons offense has a chance to be special. Drake London will be a huge part of that.

Thursday night's win felt like the beginning of a new season for London and the Falcons. Drake London is now in position to have a great individual season and be a part of a team that could start winning consistently.
