Matt LaFleur demands a “Long, Hard Look” after the Green Bay Packers’ humbling loss to Falcons

The Green Bay Packers are facing a level of adversity that has become difficult to ignore. After decades of sustained competitiveness, Green Bay now finds itself sitting at 1-2 and could easily have started the season without a win had the New York Jets held onto their late lead.

A growing injury list has only added to the team's problems, but the collapse against Atlanta still came as a shock to Packers fans. Instead of celebrating a strong home opener, the Green and Gold watched their team get overwhelmed at Lambeau Field, ending Thursday night with a painful 35-14 defeat and a season that suddenly feels like it has hit its lowest point.

Matt LaFleur and the Packers now must regroup, reassess its problems, and find a way back to winning football.

"Well, that was a humbling night. Certainly, I don't think anybody is pleased about this. We've got a couple extra days here, and everybody has to take a long, hard look at ourselves," commented the Packers head coach via NFL insider Ryan Wood.

The Packers cannot simply replace Micah Parsons ' All Pro impact, erase the loss of Zach Bako-Bewele, or immediately solve the uncertainty surrounding Josh Jacobs . Some issues may linger throughout 2026, but Green Bay 's latest showing cannot be excused.

Jordan Love struggled to make the most of crucial opportunities , with several questionable decisions preventing Green Bay from building momentum. Matthew Golden and Christian Watson still gave the Packers some production, combining for 196 receiving yards and two touchdowns, but their efforts were largely overshadowed by uneven quarterback play and a ground attack that generated almost nothing.

Matt LaFleur will need to make changes quickly and rally his team before Green Bay travels to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next Sunday.
