Matt LaFleur shredded by Packers fans after team collapses vs Vikings

It's a new season for the Green Bay Packers but you couldn't tell based on what happened at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Matt LaFleur's Packers picked up right where they left off in blowing leads.

The Packers held a double-digit third-quarter lead, 22-10, against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Sept. 13, as they controlled the game from the beginning. You wouldn't know by looking at the final score.

The Packers not only lost, but were blown out in a disastrous finish, losing 39-22, as the Vikings scored the game's final 29 points.

Packers fans saw all of this last year, most notably in the team's wild-card epic collapse against the Chicago Bears when they allowed 25 fourth-quarter points. The Vikings outscored the Packers, 22-0, in this fourth quarter.

While it was a combination of events again that led to this meltdown, a decision that LaFleur made to take points off the board with the Packers ahead 22-17 early in the fourth quarter set the stage for this new collapse.

Trey Smack made a field goal to put the Packers ahead 25-17 but LaFleur decided to take 5 yards after a Vikings penalty instead of taking the three points. The Packers then faced a 4th and 1. He called a quarterback sneak and Love was stopped.

The Vikings went down and scored on the next possession. The momentum had changed and soon Collapse No. 1 in 2026 was complete.
