Trey'Dez Green injury update: LSU tight end avoids surgery per mother's post

Lane Kiffin and LSU appear to have dodged a serious long-term injury with starting tight end Trey'Dez Green .

That, however, doesn't mean the Tigers will be without Green for some time.

In a post on social media from his mother, Green will not require surgery for the apparent leg injury that he sustained in the fourth quarter of Saturday's loss to Mississippi , as the MRI he received on Sunday "showed nothing is torn," but that he'll "miss some games" due to the injury.

"MRI showed nothing is torn, tho he has some bad sprains and bruises. No surgery needed. God said time, treatment & rest. Yes he will miss games, and that's okay. Most importantly is getting better, everything else will fall in place," Green's mother wrote on the post on Facebook .

Green went down with a lower-body injury in the fourth quarter after taking a pair of low hits from Ole Miss defenders. The injury came at the end of a 19-yard catch he caught a pass across the middle of the field from Sam Leavitt during LSU 's eventual drive that tied the game at 24-24 on a field goal.

LSU, which dropped to No. 11 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll , would go on to lose to Ole Miss 32-24 after Leavitt's final pass of the night was deflected and then intercepted in the end zone. The Tigers host No. 20 Texas A&M at 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 26 at Tiger Stadium.

Green appeared to have sustained a leg injury in the second half of Saturday's game against Ole Miss. He took several hits at the end of a catch and was down on the field for several moments getting tended to by officials.

He walked off toward LSU's sidelines with the help of two members of the Tigers' medical staff and was seen on ABC's cameras in serious pain. He had a limp in his walk as well. He did not return to the game and was later seen on the sidelines using crutches while in street clothes.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Kiffin said that Dashawn Spears and Green's injuries were "more impactful than the loss" that the Tigers took on Saturday night in Oxford.

"The injuries are more impactful than the loss to (Ole Miss)," Kiffin said. "In two of the more dynamic, irreplaceable players in Dashawn Spears and Trey'Dez Green walking around on crutches. That doesn't feel good."

Despite missing the end of the game, Green still finished as LSU's leading receiver with four receptions for 60 yards. His longest reception of the night came in the third quarter on a third-and-11 when he picked up 23 yards on a pass to the left sideline from Sam Leavitt.
