Eugenio Chacarra has insisted that he remains grateful to LIV Golf after winning for a third time this season on the DP World Tour in India on Sunday.
Chacarra is set to secure his ticket to the PGA Tour in some style at the end of the season. The Spaniard now leads the Race to Dubai after clinching the DP World India Championship this week.
It is the 26-year-old's third win of the campaign. He has now moved ahead of Patrick Reed in the Race to Dubai, while he will have an opportunity to extend his lead over the American and Rory McIlroy when he plays in the Genesis Championship next week.
Eugenio Chacarra reflects on his time with LIV Golf
It has been a remarkable journey for Eugenio Chacarra , with many golf fans becoming aware of his talent when he decided to sign with LIV Golf in 2022.
He ended up leaving LIV after the 2024 season, eventually earning his place on the DP World Tour . It could be argued that joining LIV and leaving when he did set him back in his quest to become a top player.
However, speaking after his win at Delhi Golf Club, Chacarra claimed that he reflects on time with LIV extremely positively.
"Yeah, when I left LIV I wanted to be in majors, be in Ryder Cups, win tournaments on the DP World Tour, be on the PGA Tour . That's what I dreamt of since I was little," he said.
"Obviously when I grew up LIV wasn't in existence, but when LIV came up, as one of the best amateurs in the world they offered me something that I couldn't say no to. I'm very thankful for that. My time there was great.
"It helped a lot of things for my career. I can have a great team surrounding me thanks to LIV. I can travel a little better. I can go to nicer hotels. I can give my family and my future family a great life.
"So I'm always grateful to LIV. Nothing bad to say. My time was done. Decided with my team and family that the next step was ready for me.
"Like I said, I believe in myself. I believe I can be one of the best players in the world, and that's what I wake up every single morning dreaming, of being one of the best players in the world, and like you said contending in majors.
"Hopefully this will move me up pretty good on the ranking and I could be confirmed for next year's four majors. It will be my first Masters and I am lucky now that I played the other three. Last year was my first Open. I enjoyed every single moment of it. I played four days, and I think I can, with my game, keep working hard to be contending in those tournaments in a couple years or next year."
What Eugenio Chacarra was the only player to do in LIV Golf history until the league's final event of this season
Chacarra very nearly ended up in a unique position when it came to LIV 1.0.
The Spaniard secured his first professional win in the LIV event in Bangkok back in 2022. Funnily enough, he finished that event three shots ahead of Patrick Reed in Thailand.
For a long time, Chacarra was the only player to have secured his first ever professional victory in a LIV Golf event. His victory should have arguably shown the league a potential way forward, with some of the young players in their ranks having real potential.
However, they spent too long focusing on the big money signings, who, ultimately, did not help LIV establish itself as a consistent rival to the PGA Tour.
The only other player to win a first professional title in a LIV event ended up being Michael La Sasso, with the 22-year-old clinching a victory in Indianapolis.
It still remains to be seen whether that proves to be the last ever LIV Golf event.
