After LIV Golf shuttered its league last week, Bryson DeChambeau released a lengthy statement on Sunday addressing his future.

DeChambeau said he doesn't regret leaving the PGA Tour to join the now-defunct breakaway league, and he plans to return to action next month.

"Whatever comes next, I'll approach it with humility and respect for the people who carried this game long before me," he stated. "In December, I'll compete at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, Gary Player's event, in front of fans who made my first visit to South Africa unforgettable. Beyond that, I'll go about whatever is next the right way."

Per ESPN's Mark Schlabach and Paolo Uggetti , a LIV Golf attorney told a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge that the league would file a new Chapter 11 bankruptcy plan after failing to secure the necessary financial commitment and player support to proceed with LIV 2.0.

"The debtors were ultimately unable to bring the key parties to a fully consensual arrangement that would have supported a financially viable LIV 2.0 league," attorney Matthew Williams said during the hearing. "As a result, the debtors are not currently proceeding with the LIV 2.0 plan. Instead, the debtors are toggling to a value-maximizing wind-down of their business."

DeChambeau joined LIV Golf in 2022 and quickly became one of the faces of the league. He admitted in his statement on Sunday that he may have made some mistakes during his tenure.

"I still believe in team golf. It may look different in the future, but I still believe it's essential to growing the game. Arnold Palmer said no player is bigger than the game, and I want to acknowledge that, along the way, I've said some things that didn't help," he stated.

Rex Hoggard of the Golf Channel recently reported that DeChambeau will not have an easy path back to the PGA Tour, so it remains to be seen if the two-time U.S. Open champion will be able to restore his reputation in the sport.
