Pakistan star Babar Azam was involved in an unusual incident during a President’s Trophy Grade-I match in Islamabad on Wednesday, September 30, after multiple spectators breached security and entered the playing area to get selfies with him.A video doing the rounds on social media shows Babar fielding for Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) against State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) at the Diamond Cricket Ground when fans approached him with their phones. Babar appeared to push one fan away and gesture for him to leave the field. When another spectator approached him for a selfie, the Pakistan batter took the fan’s phone and threw it away before asking the spectators to leave. The incident highlighted security concerns at the venue, with reports suggesting fans had entered the field multiple times during Babar’s return to domestic cricket. The situation escalated further after Babar was dismissed for 21 off 39 balls. Several spectators rushed onto the field and surrounded him as he walked back to the pavilion, forcing ground staff to intervene and escort him away from the crowd.Following the incidents, Islamabad Police increased security arrangements at the ground to control the gathering and prevent further breaches. Babar has returned to first-class cricket after a seven-year absence and has attracted large crowds at his recent matches. He had also struggled with the bat in the previous President’s Trophy fixture, scoring 12 and four against Khan Research Laboratories.Stay updated with the latest Asian Games 2026 news, check the Asian Games medal tally and complete Asian Games schedule.Get the latest Sports News and Live updates.
