All-veg on matchday: Holkar stadium to serve up fasting-friendly platter on Navratri T20I clash

Indore: If you are a stickler for tempering your food or eating habits during the Navratras, then Indore’s Holkar stadium has a specially curated all-vegetarian platter ready to indulge your taste buds on October 11. The third India-West Indies T20I clash at Holkar stadium, which coincides with the beginning of the Navratri festival, will see the spectators filling the stands being served a vegetarian-only spread.Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA), which is hosting the much-anticipated international fixture, has made special arrangements for spectators who will be observing fasts, adding faryali options to the match-day menu. Fans can also opt for sabudana mixture and plain or salted peanuts, allowing those observing the Navratri fast to have something to munch while enjoying the live cricket action on the field.For spectators not keeping a Navratri fast, the menu will feature a mix of familiar stadium snacks and more substantial vegetarian options. The menu chart features a lip-smacking range: veg pizzas, burgers, momos, sandwiches, vada pav, baked samosas, dal kachori, popcorn and paneer tikka. Beverage options include tea, coffee, ice cream, cream rolls, and soft drinks. Bottled water will also be served.Prices will range from Rs 10 for a 200-ml bottle of packaged water to Rs 250 for some of the paneer-based options. A 100-ml tea will cost Rs 20, while coffee will be available for Rs 30. Pizzas and Subway’s Veggie Delight will be priced at Rs 200.“The match day, Oct 11, coincides with the beginning of the Navratras. We have kept vegetarian-only stalls for spectators in the stands. Considering the many who will be keeping a fast on that day, faryali fasting options have also been included in the menu,” MPCA secretary Sudhir Asnani told TOI.The vegetarian menu, however, will apply only to the public areas of the stadium.
