Dotasra alleges irregularities in RCA polls, questions BJP functionary’s role

Jaipur: Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee president Govind Singh Dotasra Tuesday alleged political interference in Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) elections, questioning the role of BJP functionary Arun Chaturvedi and claiming that three newly formed district cricket associations were kept out of the voting process.The RCA election was held Tuesday, with the presidential contest reduced to Dhananjai Singh Khimsar, son of cabinet minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, and Brij Kishore Upadhyay after other candidates, including Prakaram Singh, the son of former cabinet minister Rajendra Rathore, withdrew.In a post on X, Dotasra shared a picture of Chaturvedi, who is also the chairperson of Rajasthan Finance Commission, alleging he was present on RCA premises, influencing the voting process.“It has been alleged that Chaturvedi himself was present at the place where voters were supposed to sit and that voters were intimidated and made to vote overwhelmingly in favour of one side,” Dotasra alleged.He questioned the purpose of holding an election if voters were allegedly being influenced and said the process raised questions over the transparency of the poll.Reacting to the allegations, Chaturvedi said he was present at RCA but denied interacting with voters or election officials. He said around 40-50 people were present in the canteen when he was there and asked Dotasra to share the wide angle of the picture. “Why did he share the cropped picture?” asked Chaturvedi.Chaturvedi also hit back by referring to the election in which Vaibhav Gehlot became RCA president. “When Vaibhav Gehlot became the RCA president, six-seven ministers were present at RCA, pressuring the late Rameshwar Dudi. That is what pressure is called,” he said.Dotasra also shared on X copies of complaints that participation of the newly formed district cricket associations of Balotra, Didwana-Kuchaman and Khairthal-Tijara was not allowed as they did not toe BJP’s line.In another objection shared by Dotasra, Mohit Yadav, a candidate for honorary secretary, questioned the numbering and serialisation of ballot papers.
